Through my research, I aim to understand how to foster altruism, rationality, and well-being in the world. To that end, I study two key questions:

(1) What are the factors that influence people’s personality traits?

(2) How can we leverage individual differences to promote evidence-based charities and public policies?

Research topics

What is the relation between access to resources and personality traits? Can shifts in the environment in which people live explain how personality changes across time or generations?

How do genetic differences shape variations in personality? To what extent are personality differences resulting from phenotypic characteristics, such as health or physical appearance?

How can we account for psychological differences when designing public policies that are both effective and fair? How should evidence-based charities adapt their messaging based on the psychological profiles of their donors?

What are the best ways to promote wellbeing at scale? How reliable are the measures we use to assess wellbeing?
